Stankovic - Koshima

More, or less, the outcome of the tournament was expected no matter it did not look that nobody will fulfill any international title norm on this competition – young and feisty Jasmina Milivojevic “grabbed” half a point from an ambitious Milos Stankovic, which was just enough for him to miss a chance to become an international master (IM)…

On the first board, GM Dobrov, too relaxed, played Kohren gambit, with an early knight sacrifice on F7 and that almost did cost him a point (who could clean-up “the mess” afterwards…?), but, the last mistake was made by Mr. Aleksic (“the eng.”), already satisfied with he has done!! On the second board, Mr. Omorjan played a very good game, captured a piece, but the position was 3 times repeated (a draw by the rules), after a draw was rejected mistakenly (“smelling the blood in the air”), by Mr. Drazic, while being “lost”, but due to a bad position of youngster’s heavy artillery and GM’s trapping skills, in a very fast manner Mr. Drazic prevented Mr. Omorjan to get the first scalp from a grandmaster!! There were some tears after the game, hopelessly, but it can be written that, even with an achieved performance of 45 Elo points, “the kid” must be satisfied.

Besides young Omorjan, the most winning games had also a very young Miss Masha Milivojevic, who, on the lady’s side derby, lost against more experienced Miss Dimitrijevic. It is respectful that “hearty” Mr. Jakovljevic took half a point from a 300 Elo higher ranked Turkish opponent.

The next tournament, in our organization, will be held in January!! (more info on this web page also …)

Once again, we thank SPS political party ,  who let us use an excellent hall in downtown.

P.S. At the end of all chess events, a blitz tournament was held, but that will be covered separately.

Final standings after round 9    !!

Chess winter in Novi Sad, Part-1, 10-15th January of 2014

FIDE ranked semi-closed tournament(s)!?

Due to the fact that people from Novi Sad, and abroad, like to have CHESS competitions as much as possible, the “chess winter” will bring more international tournaments to the city of the capitol of Vojvodina!!

10.01. 2014 – FRIDAY, Opening ceremony at  16.30 h,  followed by the 1st round.

11.01. 2014 – SATURDAY, two rounds – 10.00 h   (2nd) and 17.00 h (3rd).

12.01. 2014 – SUNDAY, two rounds – 10.00 h   (4th) and 17.00 h (5th).

13.01. 2014 – MONDAY, one round 17.00 h (6th).

14.01. 2014 – TUESDAY, one round 17.00 h (7th).

That will be the last stage of the first tournament phase. Competitors who wish to continue will be put together in a joint tournament, i.e., a second phase of the “chess winter in Novi Sad”, part-1 tournament.

15.01. 2014 – WEDNESDAY, two rounds – 10.00 h   (8th) and 17.00 h (9th), followed by the Closing ceremony.

It is expected that the “chess winter in Novi Sad”, part-1 tournament(s)”, will have 3-4 groups, 8 participants each. The final list of players will be known just about 30 minutes before the get go. The first seven (group stage) rounds are to be held according to the Berger system, while the second phase will be a 2-round Swiss system – for the end-winner (the mixed system of pairings brings more joy to the game, as well as to many “estranged ambitions”).  Inscription fee according organiser ( comunicate gm Drazic ,   sinisadrazic@sbb.rs )

Jevtic is an absolute leader!! “The trio” is chasing the target(s), with no obstacles!! Tomorrow/today is the last round in the groups!
In a derby of the tournament, yet, Jevtic prevailed again (two forfeits on the road though)! End, Dobrov, with two pieces down, “managed” to shake the first table of Japan to a nervous breakdown, followed with another nil.
Omorjan got away against relatively solid Borbas, while still “not quite fit”, Putnik did not manage to hold against the adventures Ratic.
Martic got his smile back again after another game won, and all in all the round may be described as an exceptionally wary, while tomorrow is a big bang expected.
Kokeza made another draw (off board) making it a whole more quiet, no matter some cheered for that.
A real derby is to come – Mr. Aleksic (the eng.) vs. FM Jevtic (the leader)…

The memorial Milja Vujovic chess tournament is getting closer to the first stage, while the scoreboard results, for the ones who are not well informed, look peculiar. So, “written-off” FM Jevtic, an experienced amateur from the “North of Backa” – Mr. Aleksic (“the eng.”) and a wunderkind – very young Mr. Dejan Omorjan, with still a low rating of just 1665 ELO points, are leading the way.

Only two more rounds are to come at group stages, therefore the above mentioned trio might be remaining in the first place!!

Afterwards, a combined pairing system could/should put “the things on the track, but nobody can take away already earned/won ELO points of theirs.

From “the rest of the field”, I would like to point out at Milivojevic sisters who are still holding on while battling for the first prize in a women competition.

“The cream on the cake|” will be the last two rounds, as well as a big blitz tournament on Sunday!!

after round 6.

The tournament has been “gloriously” opened by Mr. Miroslav Kopanja, the president of The Chess Association of Vojvodina (“SSV”), and then the chief arbiter (Mr. Dankovic) and the director of the tournament, GM Drazic, pointed out at some “finesses” of the competition, that have been already used in the past by Mr. Milutin Lukic at famous tournaments in Vukovar!! “The battles” started, with a lot of early decided games, right away. To some, the “chess-drug” is never good enough! Dear Aleksandra, it seemed you are eventually to reach the whole point, but “the street-smart Russian” did not agree, and the chance has slipped away whilst “the war” is not over, yet. An experienced Mr. Kostic (GM), in the manners of a real grandmaster, has won against a sensational winner of the “Zanosh 2” tournament (Mr. Rudakov, “the youngster”), while quite nicely, Mr. Lukajic scored against also young Mr. Radulovic, but the hero of the day was “a kid” , Mr. Omorjan, who was “totally lost” for the most of the game who took a master’s scalp (certainly not the last one), but FM Vlaovic did not find the way to neutralize the mate threats. Tomorrow (TODAY!?), are double rounds scheduled in a gorgeous environment of the banquet/conference hall of the SPS (Serbian Political Party???).

Dear audience, my supporters, chess players, and the majority of others, in order to have consistent and better two-way communication, the existing website had a makeover so we got a brand new look. We are currently preparing for December’s chess tour and will slowly fill the content. We are hoping that you will have an understanding and a bit of patience.

We wish to continue together towards the same goal. Once again thank you for this shared journey…
